Put your Google Sheets shift schedule in Google Calendar

Keep planning the rota in a spreadsheet. Calendrow turns each shift into a calendar event, updates it when you move a shift, and handles shifts that end after midnight.

Who it's for: Store, restaurant, clinic and warehouse managers who plan shifts in a sheet and want staff to see them in Google Calendar.

Make a copy in Google SheetsDownload the template (CSV)

After making a copy, check the time zone: File → Settings → Time zone. A copy keeps the template's zone (US Central), and Calendrow reads times in the sheet's zone. CSV: in Google Sheets choose File → Import → Upload, then "Replace spreadsheet". Dates use the YYYY-MM-DD format, which Sheets reads as real dates in any locale.

Set it up in 3 minutes

  1. Open your sheet (or the template) and choose Extensions → Calendrow → Open Calendrow.
  2. Match the columns:
    Calendrow fieldColumn
    TitleShift
    StartStart
    EndEnd (a time is enough)
    LocationLocation
    DescriptionNotes
  3. Create a calendar for it (Calendrow suggests a name), click Preview, check the times, then Sync.

Every row gets a status: Created, Updated, Unchanged, Skipped or Error, with a plain-English reason. Sync again any time; changed rows update their events and nothing is duplicated.

Tips

  • Overnight shifts: if End is only a time (like 06:00) and it is earlier than Start, Calendrow ends the event the next morning.
  • Put the name in the title ("Close – Sam") so everyone can scan the calendar. A formula like =B2&" – "&D2 builds it for you.
  • Share the calendar with your team: in Google Calendar, open the calendar's settings and add people under "Share with specific people". Give them "See all event details" so they can't change shifts there; the sheet stays the source of truth.
  • Swapped a shift? Edit the row and sync again. The existing event moves; nothing is duplicated.

Questions

Can each employee get only their own shifts?

Not in the free version: one sheet tab syncs to one calendar. A simple workaround is one tab per person (a FILTER formula can build it) synced to its own calendar. Routing rows to different calendars by a column value is planned for Calendrow Pro.

What happens when I delete a shift row?

The event stays in the calendar for now. Delete it in Google Calendar, or wait for the opt-in cleanup of events whose rows were deleted, planned for the next free update.

Does it handle daylight saving?

Yes. Times are read as the wall-clock time in your spreadsheet's time zone, so a 7:00 AM shift stays at 7:00 AM on both sides of the clock change.

The free plan creates up to 100 new events a month and writes to calendars Calendrow creates for you, which you can share like any other calendar. Syncing into your existing calendars is coming in Calendrow Pro.
