Excel to Google Calendar
Google Calendar can't open .xlsx files, but it imports CSV. Here's the quick way and the by-hand way.
The quick way: paste into the converter
- In Excel, select your schedule including the header row and copy it (Ctrl+C or Cmd+C).
- Paste it into the free converter, check the columns and the preview.
- Download the CSV and import it in Google Calendar → Settings → Import & export.
By hand
- Rename your columns to Google's headers:
Subject,Start Date,Start Time,End Date,End Time,All Day Event,Description,Location. - Format dates as MM/DD/YYYY and times as 10:00 AM.
- File → Save As → CSV UTF-8, then import in Google Calendar. Details and fixes: CSV import guide.
If the schedule keeps changing
Every import is a copy; importing an updated file adds a second set of events. Instead, open the Excel file in Google Sheets (File → Import in Sheets, or upload it to Drive and open with Sheets) and sync it with Calendrow: each row stays linked to its event, so edits update the calendar.
Launching on the Google Workspace Marketplace in November 2026.
Questions
Can you import an Excel file directly into Google Calendar?
No. Google Calendar imports CSV and iCal (.ics) files, not .xlsx. Save the sheet as CSV with Google's column names, or paste the rows into a converter.
Will changes in my Excel file update Google Calendar?
Not with an import. Each import is a one-time copy. For a schedule that changes, keep it in Google Sheets and sync it with an add-on like Calendrow.
